The Philippine Eagle

The Philippine Monkey-eating eagle (Pithecopaga jefferyii) is a long-lived giant forest raptor endemic to the Philippines, known to be geographically restricted to the islands of Luzon, Samar, Leyte and Mindanao. It is also known as one of the largest and most powerful eagles in the world. Unfortunately forest denudation has caused the eagle to be one of the rarest and most critically endangered vertebrate species.

A private, non-stock, non-profit organization was orgnanized in 1987,called The Philippine Eagle Foundtion (PEC) whose main thrust is to save the endangered Philippine Eagle and preservation of its rainforest habitat.
